Dear Parents or Guardians,
My name is Aliscia Benetti and I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and express my excitement about working with your student this year. This year will be my second year teaching at MC2 and I am very excited to be teaching your students math. I believe that each student has the ability to gain the essential mathematical knowledge for their personal and academic lives. We will be working very hard this year; increasing ACT scores, learning about our financial futures, gaining essential skills for future jobs and also having fun! Additional information about the class will be provided in the syllabus, which will be given to your child at the beginning of school year. There is also a copy of the syllabus linked to this website. Please read the syllabus so you are familiar with our class rules and expectations. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact me and we can discuss them.
I have been blessed with the opportunity to have many different experiences that I can share with your child. While studying for my first degree in music and Italian literature, I spent a year studying abroad in a music conservatory. After my graduation in 2005, I played professionally, raised my three daughters and studied mathematics. I am excited to continue my love of learning with your students in this new year.
I have high expectations for my students as well as parents and guardians. I believe in student responsibility and in teaching my students to be advocates for themselves. We all learn from experimenting and making mistakes, so I am absolutely okay including this as part of their education. One of the most important aspects of learning is how to deal with the consequences of our actions, whether they be good or bad, My request to all of you is to let your students make mistakes and learn from them. I will looking over them in my classroom all year long and I will not let them burn the building down, but I will allow them to make mistakes.
Also note that if you ever have any comments, questions or concerns, I am available for phone calls and meetings (by appointment please) each day before and after school. To schedule a meeting, you may contact me via my email, [email protected] or my phone. I am excited about working with your child and I am looking forward to a great year!
Sincerely,
Aliscia Benetti
